“Gugyeong Market,” the Ninth Sight of Danyang that you must visit
It is a perfect place to taste dishes using garlic, a local specialty of Danyang, such as glazed fried chicken bites with black garlic, garlic dumplings, and blood sausages with garlic. Particularly, you will always be able to see a number of tourists lining up in front of a restaurant specializing in glazed fried chicken bites with black garlic.
This is in a mixed form of the permanent and traditional fifth-day markets. Since it is well-known for its garlic alley packed with vendors handling high-quality garlic from Danyang, you can easily get the best-quality garlic here. Nearby and highly-accessible tourist attractions include: Danuri Center, equipped with Korea’s largest freshwater ecosystem aquarium; Danyanggang Jando Trail and Mancheonha Skywalk; Eight Scenic Views of Danyang; Sobaeksan National Park; Dodamsambong Peaks; and Gosu Cave. All have been blessed by nature. Recently, there has been a growing number of local residents and market customers who want to try local food such garlic blood sausage, glazed fried chicken bites with black garlic, garlic dumplings, and garlic bread, which are made with other agricultural local specialties along with garlic.
