A market full of delicious food that will satisfy your eyes, ears, and mouth at once
It is a market that offers a diversity of products from the metropolitan area and the southern provinces. It is always busy and crowded to the point that the market opens at five o’clock in the morning. It is also full of things to taste such as mini pig’s trotters, blood sausage and rice soup, ox bone soup, and street food.
Cheongju Yukgeori Market is one of the best-known markets in Cheongju, named after the fact that it was originally formed at a yukgeori (meaning six-way intersection). Facing a four-way intersection now, the market has become one of the most-beloved places in the area, where you can buy agricultural and industrial products directly from their producers. The dawn market, often considered the highlight of the Cheongju Yukgeori Market, takes place from 5:00 to 8:00 and attracts vendors and go-betweens looking for fresh and cheap items.
You will not be able to walk past its famous Sundae (blood sausage), Jeon (savory pancake), and Tteok (rice cake) Alleys without having your mouth water, all thanks to the delicious smells emanating from the delicacies. Do not miss a chance to try pig’s trotters and grilled pork belly as well. Please note that apart from the permanent market, you will also be able to attend the fifth-day market as well.
07:00–22:00 everyday (* Opening hours may vary depending on the store.)
