It was named Jungang Market because it is located at the heart of Wonju, and until the 1950s it took place every five days, but in 1965 it took its current form as a permanent market. Along with Miro Arts, Wonju Juangang Market is on the second floor of the building, along with Jayu Market, Jongangno Culture Street, and Citizens’ Traditional Market that border each other. Wonju Jungang Market shows the lives of local residents, filled with joys and sorrows.
Recently, Wonju Jungang Market has been emerging as one of the best places to visit particularly for foreigners. The young vendors settling in Miro Arts Wonju Jungang Market have been bringing new, bright energy into the market, attracting more tourists every day.
