The origin of Tongin Market, a collection of 80 shops offering perishable food, daily necessities, and side dishes, can be traced back to a public market formed in 1941 around the Hyoja-dong area.
Since the voluntary establishment of a village company in 2012, vendors have been co-running Dosirak Café Tong and receiving positive outcomes from it. Tongin Market is designed to be an alley-type traditional market where art and tradition coexist, and where there are lots of things to eat and see. And by developing and selling their famous mascot Yeopjeonni’s dolls, vendors are exerting every effort to revitalize the market.
